A Look Back at Madison BCycle's New Stations from 2021

by Madison BCycle | Mar 14, 2022

The Madison BCycle team has more stations planned for install in 2022 than in any previous year since bike share came to the isthmus in 2011. Join us for a ride down memory lane way back to last year when the team installed NINE new stations:

A hop, skip, and an e-bike ride to Monona

Madison BCycle kicked off 2021 with two exciting new additions to the existing station network with stations at Grand Crossing Park and Schluter Park in Monona. Both stations are home to BCycle's new station technology that allows users to checkout e-bikes with their RFID card or BCycle app.

The Return of the Breese Stevens stations

After a trial period of both stations on the corners of N Paterson Street that ended in 2020, both stations next to historic Breese Stevens Field returned in the summer of 2021.

More station availability on State Street

State Street's newest station on the corner of N Fairchild Street included eight new docks that allow users to unlock e-bikes with their RFID card or BCycle app.

Increased access to the Community Pass Program at Pinney Library

2021 new stations-05

Last year, we launched our Community Pass Program, allowing those who need access to alternative transportation an option to checkout e-bikes with their Madison Public Library card. Riders had more access to this program with a second station directly on the campus of a Madison Public Library with the new station at Pinney Library on Cottage Grove Road.

Alumni love e-bikes too

2021 new stations-04

We love our student riders, and we know how much bike share means to them. To help students access bike share, two new stations hosted by the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation and Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association give students and other commuters easier access to e-bikes on and near UW's campus.

Drumroll … Monroe and Knickerbocker is back!

2021 new stations-03

Whether it was from our Annual Survey responses, or our DMs on social media, we heard your requests for the return of Monroe and Knickerbocker, and with the help of Fiore Companies, we were able to bring back the popular station! Joining the other eight stations last year, Monroe and Knickerbocker is here to stay in 2022.
