  • Meet the Interns | Madeline Rojer

by Christina Otten | Jul 07,2015

Today, I introduce to you our third and final marketing intern, Madeline (Mady) Rojer!

Screen Shot 2015-07-06 at 6.12.01 PM
Mady is from Maple Grove, Minnesota, a town about thirty miles Northwest of the Twin Cities.

She is majoring in Marketing and getting acertificate in Spanish. Mady hopes to graduate in four years in May of 2017 and then continue on to get her MBA.

When asked about her favorite memory, Mady said,
“My favorite BCycle memory is actually not during the internship but my first semester sophomore year. I rented out a BCycle with my two siblings who were in town visiting, and not only was it my first time riding a BCycle, but it was also my first time riding a bike on University Ave. It was terrifying, but had to be done eventually, and now I ride down University multiple times a day!"

    Some Mady Rojer fast facts:

    Name: Madeline Rojer

    Age: 19

    From: Maple Grove, MN

Favorite BCycle station and why: Observatory Drive at Natatorium, because it's right in front of another jobI have which makes it awfully convenient when I'm in a time crunch. That station has saved me more times than I'd like to admit.

My role as an intern: I help to oversee and post to Facebook, table various community events, and help spread BCycle love!

    Favorite ice cream flavor: Strawberry

Favorite restaurant in Madison: DLUX. Go there for brunch and you will not be sorry (it's also only a minute walk from the S. Hamilton and W. Main B Station, hint hint nudge nudge.)

Favorite thing to do during Summer: That's a super hard question...probably boating on a lake. I kind of cheated with that answer because 'boating' includes all my favorite activities: tubing, swimming, wake boarding, tanning, etc. but I'm going to stick with it.

Brat, dog, or burger? Burger for sure.

Favorite quote: I don't think I have one favorite quote, but this in my top ten "A ship is safe in harbor, but that's not what ships are for". -William G.T. Shedd

That's a wrap for our "Meet the Interns" portion of the blog! Don't hesitate to come say "Hi" if you see us out and about. We would love to meet you!

Happy riding! And as always, #ridethered

  • Meet the Interns | Brandon Caplin

by Christina Otten | Jun 29,2015

    Introducing…….Brandon Caplin!

brandonBrandon is from Apple Valley, Minnesota. Just for perspective, Apple Valley is about 20 miles south of the Twin Cities and 10 miles from the Mall of America. Brandon is studying Marketing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He will be a junior in the fall and hopes to graduate in spring of 2017. After graduation, Brandon’s dream is to work at a marketing or advertising firm in Chicago. As a BCycle intern, Brandon has come to realize how important both teamwork and having fun are in the workplace, and appreciates the freedom to be creative that often comes along with working at a smaller company.

Upon thinking about one of his favorite BCycle memories, Brandon said: “My favorite memory with riding BCycles was the first time I was able to get my roommate to try out a BCycle. We took a couple bikes from the Union South station and headed to the Terrace. It was a beautiful day at the lake…we even worked on our tans a little. My roommate has been an avid BCycler ever since!"

    Some Brandon Caplin fast facts:

    Name: Brandon Caplin

    Age: 20

    From: Apple Valley, Minnesota

Favorite BCycle station and why: Union South, because it is right outside my current apartment.

My role as an intern: I help to run the BCycle Twitter page, put out the monthly newsletters, as well as help table during events to inform people about BCycle.

Favorite ice cream flavor: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Favorite restaurant in Madison: Red Sushi on King Street.

Favorite thing to do during Summer: Frolf (aka “Frisbee-Golf,” a sport played much like golf, but with a Frisbee).

    Brat, dog, or burger? Burger.

Favorite quote: “Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum videtur” - That which is said in Latin sounds profound.
(Obviously Brandon is a funny one)
