  • Top Rider Tuesday | Peyman Morteza

by Christina Otten | Aug 18,2015

664753_10101720999724637_1875428522_oHow is it Tuesday again already!? It seems like our beautiful summer is quickly coming to an end. Fortunately, our wonderful BCycles are still here! One rider, Peyman Morteza  loves BCycle and takes full advantage of everything it offers. In fact, Peyman is currently our #10 Top Rider and has 227 trips thus far! Lets meet our Top Rider for this Tuesday:

    Name
    : Peyman Morteza
    Hometown: Tehran
    Occupation: Graduate student in Mathematics
Favorite BCycle station and why: The one on N. Park Street and by the lake Mendota (i.e. the Memorial Union Station) because it is a nice station!
Favorite ice cream flavor: Cookies and Cream
Favorite restaurant in Madison:  Fugu, close to the W. Gilman @ Peace Park and University & Bassett Station
Favorite thing to do during Summer: Kayaking with Hoofers
    Brat, dog, or burger? Dog
Favorite quote: No pain no gain!
Do you own your own bicycle? If so, why do you choose to ride BCycle as well? I used to have a bicycle but nowadays I only use BCycle. First of all it is always accessible and parking is super quick, but there is another great advantage of BCycle bikes: You can always check out bikes up the hill (Say one of the stations around the capital) and then enjoy a nice ride down to the hill (potential energy converts to Kinetic energy and you do not even need pedaling), but you can never have such a ride with your own bike because you need to spend energy to put your bike up the hill (Law of conservation energy!) but BCycle bikes are always up there and you can check in bikes down the hill and enjoy your ride!

Thanks, Peyman! It’s always fun to get the insight of a Top Ten Rider!
Have a great rest of your week everyone! Happy riding, and as always #ridethered!

  • Top Rider Tuesday | Bob Paolino

by Christina Otten | Aug 11,2015

Happy Top Rider Tuesday, folks! On this beautiful Tuesday, allow me to introduce to you Bob Paolino, our Madison BCycle #8 Top Rider.

    IMG_9438

    Some Bob Paolino Fast Facts:
    Name: Bob Paolino

    Favorite BCycle station and why
Willy & Few. Why? Because with only seven docks, it is the smallest B Station in the system and is also among the most isolated from its B Station friends. Editor’s Note: While Bob loves this ‘hidden gem,’ of a B Station, he would also love to see another one spring up close by for even greater access. We hear you, Bob, and we’re working on it!
Favorite feature of Madison BCycle: Convenience for making short trips around the city--for commuting, for lunch, for errands at local businesses, for entertainment, for recreation, for fun!

    Favorite ice cream flavor:
C'mon, asking me for my favourite ice cream flavour is as bad as having people ask me "What's your favourite beer?" as though there could be only one. Just as the whole idea of craft beer is the variety rather than the boredom of the same thing all the time, one should also embrace variety in ice cream. That said, a couple scoops of frozen custard (usually, but not necessarily or exclusively vanilla) in a glass of stout or porter is yummy.

    Favorite restaurant in Madison:
There you go again, asking me to choose one at the exclusion of other worthy choices.

Favorite thing to do during Summer:
Play hockey, taste craft beer, and (of course) drive BCycles.

    Brat, dog, or burger?
Burger... with a good beer of course.

Do you own your own bicycle? If so, why do you choose to ride BCycle as well?
Yes, a road bike and a "hybrid" commuter bike. Easy (usually) to pick up and return when I am away from home and want to make a quick trip from Point-A to Point-B that I would otherwise make on foot or by car. No locks to carry, no separate lights to attach, none of all those extra gears as on my own bikes to confuse me. ;-).

Thanks for letting us introduce you, Bob! And thanks for all of your craft beer insight-- every Wisconsinite must stay informed on these important topics!

Happy riding! And as always, #ridethered!

One person has said that it is "good drinking music." It's really kind of hard to pin down; if you have a good description, let me know. • Top Rider Tuesday | B.J. Lee

by Christina Otten | Aug 04,2015

Screen Shot 2015-08-04 at 9.54.13 AM
Happy Tuesday, folks! In the midst of a busy Trek World week,
it is important to remember the little things....
like our wonderful BCycle top riders!!
This week we present our #1 Top Rider,
    thats right Numero Uno;
the one, the only, B.J. Lee.

    B.J. currently has 505 rides,
which is 195 more than our friend Ron Singer's 310 rides.
So B.J has quite the lead,
    at least for now!

    Some B.J. Lee Fast Facts:
    Name: B.J. Lee

    Hometown
    : Shelbyville, Kentucky

    Occupation
    : Cook

    Favorite BCycle station and why
: Monroe & Knickerbocker, because it is the only B Station named after a founding father president and one of the first NBA franchises.

    Favorite feature of Madison BCycle
: The basket and the 2nd gear.

    Favorite ice cream flavor
    : Rum Raisin

    Favorite restaurant in Madison
: Taco Palace (aka Tex Tubb's.)

Favorite things to do during Summer
: Watching the British Open, MTV Music Video Awards, and the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating contest on the 4th of July.

    Brat, dog, or burger?
Unfortunately, I can't eat any of these but am happy to cook them for the public!

    Favorite quotes:

    - "The way I see it, there are two worlds. One that is and one that should be.  And with some hard work and a little bit of luck, sometimes those two worlds touch. This is one of those moments." - Tom Cavanagh in the series finale of "Ed". (2004)
    - "Ninjas? Why'd they have to be Ninjas?!" - Gus from "Recess: School's Out" (2001)‬‬
    - "Super Mega Ukuele!!!!!" - Kevin from "Minions" (2015)

Do you own your own bicycle? If so, why do you choose to ride BCycle as well? Yes.  Every year my bike and I get into disputed contract negotiations revolving around 1 year deals. His agent and I usually take around 8 months to come to a mutual agreement.  Luckily, these negotiations occur usually between the months of April and November so it's perfect timing to ride a B-Cycle.‬‬

Thanks for letting us introduce you, B.J.! You are too funny and we have thoroughly enjoyed learning a little about you.
Want to catch up to B.J.!? Better start riding! Make sure to check out our Station Map and keep up with us on social media (FacebookInstagram, & Twitter)!
Thanks for riding, everyone! Enjoy this beautiful weather. And as always, #ridethered.
