Where are the ArtBikes Now?

Madison, WI Over the month of August, Madison B-cycle raised over $1,000 in donations for the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County from rides taken on ArtBikes. You may have seen these gorgeous bikes cruising Madison, or may have ridden one yourself. The roving painted B-cycles raised $1 per ride through the generous donations of Metcalfe’s Market.

Madison residents may have noticed the recent disappearance of the ArtBikes from circulation in the system. They will now be on display at the following businesses which contributed to the ArtBikes project: DreamBikes, Metcalfe's Market, Trek Bicycle in Waterloo, The Overture Center, The Boys and Girls Club of Dane County , and the Trek Bicycle Store of Madison. In December, some ArtBikes will be displayed at The Children's Museum for their Sustainability Fair. Next fall new ArtBikes will return in greater numbers with new and exciting designs.

Currently the ArtBikes are not available for auction or sale. Bikes will be repurposed and reused for the same project for next year. "We thought about selling or auctioning them, but that is counter-point to the mission of B-cycle, to reuse and share the bikes for public use." says Claire Hurley, Manager of Madison B-cycle.

The next generation will use the same bikes with new artistry that my include a theme. After the success of this first season, they will look into doing 15 or 20 ArtBikes next year. If you would like to view the ArtBikes, pay a visit to any of the businesses mentioned above that made this wonderful project happen. See the complete list of locations below where the bikes will be on display.

Very cool chain cover. Haven't seen that before. When I was in Sweden, I didn't see very many cliycsts. It was very bike-friendly though. Old town (Gamla Stan) seemed more walkable.

im a lucky guy, i own two old school Crescent bikes, but i haevnt used them in ages, but this spring im thinking off taking one out(grown-up size) and fixing it and hittin the streets of Tallinn. Kind sick off only seeing mountain bikes and bmx-es.
