Hand-Painted Madison B-cycles to feature artwork of local youth
(Madison, WI) - Madison B-cycle, Dreambikes of Madison, and The Boys and Girls Club of Dane County are excited to announce a collaborative art project to bring unique style to Madison’s bike sharing program. Dubbed "ArtBikes," the project will see 10 Madison B-cycle bikes stripped of their uniform red paint scheme and decorated by young members of the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County. The bikes will live at the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County June 20th through July 9th as they are painted with the unique designs of children ages 7 to 17.
“This project is a great way to show Madison kids how their creativity can contribute to the personality of their community,” said Claire Hurley, Madison B-cycle Manager. “It’s also a great way for Madison B-cycle to showcase the city’s personality through unique bikes.”
The B-cycles’ new coats of paint will be weatherproofed by Trek Bicycle, and reassembled by Dream Bikes of Madison. After a public debut at the Bike for Boys and Girls Club ride on July 21st, the B-cycle ArtBikes will embark on a display tour around Madison before being returned to circulation in the Madison B-cycle bike sharing system.
