How Madison B-cycle Works

1. To check out a B-cycle you will need to purchase a membership. Madison B-cycle offers 24hr, 7-day and annual membership..
2. 7-day and annual memberships can be purchased online (credit card required).
3. A 24-Hour Pass can be purchased at B-stations (credit card required) or online. Promotion codes can only be used in conjunction with an online purchases.
4. Once you've purchased a membership, you are still responsible for paying usage fees for any trips longer than 30 minutes on the B-cycle. A trip starts when you check a bike out of a B-station and ends when the bike is docked back in a B-station.

If you have a B-card:

1. Choose one of the locked bikes.
2. Press the silver button on the bike’s dock. (Piezo button incorporates piezoelectric technology to convert physical touch/pressure of the push button from mechanical to electrical energy).
3. Touch your B-card to the square behind the silver button.
4. Remove the bike once the locks open (dock will start beeping after the bike is unlocked).

If you do not have a B-card, but are already a member:

1. Press the kiosk button.
2. Follow the prompts on the touchscreen. When prompted, swipe the same credit card registered with your membership.
3. When prompted, enter the dock number of the bike you wish to check out.
4. The kiosk will unlock the bike from the dock you chose. The dock holding the bike will beep until the bike is removed.

If you do not have a B-card and have not yet purchased a membership:

1. Press the kiosk button.
2. Follow the instructions on the touchscreen to purchase a 24-Hour Pass.
3. When prompted, enter the dock number of the bike you wish to check out.
4. The kiosk will unlock the bike from the dock you chose. The dock holding the bike will beep until the bike is removed. 

1. Adjust your seat, strap on your helmet, and go.
2. The first 30 minutes of each ride is included with all  memberships.  Additional fees apply for rides longer than 30 minutes (see rates). 
3. Usage fees add up quickly, especially after 1 hour! Want to avoid the usage fees? Simply return the B-cycle to any B-station, and check out another B-cycle to get a fresh 30 min. trip! 

1. Return your bike to any B-station by rolling it into an available dock.
2. Wait for three rapid blinks of the green light and three quick beeps. That’s your signal that the bike has been securely returned.
3. Once you've returned your B-cycle at the station,feel free to check out another bike at anytime throughout your membership period. Your membership includes an unlimited number of bike check-outs!
